Bua loy is a traditional Thai dessert of colorful glutinous rice balls in a sweet coconut milk sauce. It is especially popular at festivals and often enjoyed as a warming sweet treat.

Ingredients
- 100 g glutinous rice flour
- 80 to 90 ml warm water
- 2 to 3 drops each of food coloring (red, green, yellow)
- 400 ml coconut milk
- 75 g sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, knead the warm water into the glutinous rice flour bit by bit until you have a smooth, workable dough.
- Divide the dough into three parts and color each part with a few drops of a different food coloring.
- Shape small balls from the dough, about the size of a pea.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the balls for about 5 minutes, until they float to the surface.
- Drain the balls and set them aside.
- In another pot, heat the coconut milk with the sugar, salt and vanilla extract, but do not let it boil.
- Add the cooked balls to the coconut milk and let them steep for a few minutes.
- Serve the dessert in bowls and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
