Bua Loy is a traditional Thai dessert of colorful glutinous rice balls in sweet coconut milk. Thais make it for festivals and often eat it warm.

Ingredients
- 100 g glutinous rice flour
- 80-90 ml (about 1/3 cup) warm water
- Food coloring (red, green, yellow)
- 400 ml coconut milk
- 75 g sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, knead the warm water into the glutinous rice flour a little at a time until you have a smooth dough you can shape.
- Divide the dough into three parts and tint each with a few drops of a different food coloring.
- Roll the dough into small balls about the size of a pea.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the balls for about 5 minutes, until they float to the surface.
- Drain the balls and set them aside.
- In another pot, heat the coconut milk with the sugar, salt and vanilla extract without letting it boil.
- Add the cooked balls to the coconut milk and let them sit for a few minutes.
- Spoon the dessert into bowls and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
