- 1 kg pork spine, cut into pieces
- 2 liters water
- 1 large onion, halved
- 4 garlic cloves, whole
- 2 pieces of ginger (about 5 cm / 2 in)
- 100 g Korean rice cakes (tteokbokki tteok)
- 200 g shiitake mushrooms, quartered
- 300 g potatoes, diced

- 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste

- Add the scallions, gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper and simmer for another 10 minutes.
