Drinks
Genmaicha is Japanese green tea mixed with roasted rice. The rice tastes nutty, a bit like popcorn, and softens the bitterness of the sencha. Drink it with a meal or between meals.

Ingredients
- 1 tsp green tea (sencha)
- 1 tbsp roasted brown rice
- 250 ml hot water (about 80-90°C)
Instructions
- Put the roasted rice in a tea strainer.
- Add the green tea to the rice in the strainer.
- Set the strainer in a teapot or a large mug.
- Pour the hot water over the tea and rice.
- Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you like it.
- Remove the strainer and pour the tea into a tea bowl.
- Drink the genmaicha hot.
