Dessert
Kanom tom is a classic Thai dessert of sticky rice flour balls with a sweet palm sugar filling, rolled in shredded coconut. It is especially popular at festive occasions such as Thai New Year.

Ingredients
- 160 g glutinous rice flour
- 120 ml lukewarm water
- 50 g palm sugar
- 80 g freshly shredded coconut
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions
- Finely chop the palm sugar and set aside.
- Put the glutinous rice flour and salt in a large bowl and gradually add the lukewarm water until you have a soft, non-sticky dough.
- Divide the dough into equal pieces and flatten each portion.
- Put a small amount of the chopped palm sugar in the middle of each flattened piece and close the dough around the filling to make a ball.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
- Add the filled rice flour balls to the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface. Then cook for about 1 more minute.
- Take out the cooked balls and immediately roll them in the freshly shredded coconut so they are fully covered.
- Arrange the balls on a serving plate and let them cool before serving.
