Nasi Goreng Kampung is village-style fried rice from Malaysia, made with chicken, shrimp, vegetables and green chilies. You fry day-old rice in a wok with soy and oyster sauce until it is hot and toasted at the edges. It tastes salty and spicy.

Ingredients
- 480 g cooked rice, preferably from the day before
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 green chilies, finely sliced
- 200 g chicken breast, cut into small pieces
- 100 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 100 g mixed vegetables (carrots, green beans, bell pepper), chopped small
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sambal oelek
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, halved, for serving
- ½ cucumber, sliced, for serving
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large pan or wok.
- Add the garlic, onion and green chilies and stir-fry until soft and fragrant.
- Add the chicken breast and shrimp and fry until almost cooked through.
- Add the mixed vegetables and fry for a few minutes, until they soften.
- Add the cooked rice and the seasonings (soy sauce, oyster sauce and sambal oelek) and stir well until everything is evenly mixed and the rice is hot.
- Take the pan off the heat and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve with halved boiled eggs and cucumber slices.
