Ojingeochae Muchim is dried squid strips in a sauce of gochujang, soy sauce and sesame oil. They taste sweet and spicy and have a firm, slightly chewy bite. Serve them as a side with rice or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 100 g dried squid, cut into thin strips
  • 1 tbsp Korean chili paste (gochujang)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 scallion, finely sliced
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Put the dried squid in a bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, stir the gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and chopped garlic into an even sauce.
  3. Pour the sauce over the dried squid and toss well so every strip is evenly coated.
  4. Add the scallion and sesame seeds and toss well again.
  5. Marinate for at least 10 minutes so the flavors soak in.
  6. Stir once more before serving and, if you like, garnish with extra sesame seeds.
