Main course
Sach Ko Nom Pang is a Cambodian street food sandwich of crusty baguette, seared marinated beef, carrot, cucumber and cilantro. You drizzle a Khmer sauce of lime juice, fish sauce, garlic and chili over it, which adds acidity and heat to the salty meat.

Ingredients
- 1 baguette
- 300 g beef, cut into thin slices
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 carrot, cut into thin strips
- 1/2 cucumber, cut into thin strips
- 1 small handful cilantro leaves (about 5 g)
- For the Khmer sauce:
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 small red chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Marinate the beef with the soy sauce, fish sauce, garlic, sugar and black pepper and set it aside for at least 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the Khmer sauce: mix the lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, garlic, chilies and water well in a small bowl.
- Sear the marinated beef briefly in a pan or on a grill over high heat until nicely browned.
- Slice the baguette open lengthwise and toast it lightly.
- Lay the grilled beef in the baguette, add the carrot and cucumber strips and garnish with cilantro leaves.
- Drizzle the Khmer sauce over the beef.
- Close the sandwich and serve right away.
