Tangyuan are sweet, sticky rice balls filled with black sesame paste and served in a clear or lightly sweetened soup. This traditional Chinese sweet is often eaten during the Lantern Festival or on other festive occasions.

Ingredients
- 200 g glutinous rice flour
- 150 ml warm water
- 100 g black sesame paste
- 50 g sugar
- 1 liter water for the soup
- 2 tbsp sugar for the soup
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the glutinous rice flour with the warm water until you have a smooth dough.
- Shape the dough into a roll about 1 cm thick and cut it into small pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and flatten it.
- Put a small amount of sesame paste in the middle of each flattened piece and carefully pull the edges together to seal in the filling.
- Roll the filled dough balls into smooth spheres.
- Bring 1 liter of water to a boil in a large pot, add 2 tbsp sugar and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
- Carefully add the tangyuan to the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface.
- Serve the tangyuan in bowls together with the sweet soup.
