Main course
Xôi gấc is a traditional Vietnamese dish, made especially for the Lunar New Year and other special occasions. It is known for its bright red color, which comes from gấc fruit, a fruit native to Southeast Asia that is known for its antioxidant properties. The sticky rice is enriched with coconut milk and a pinch of sugar, which gives it a sweet, creamy flavor.

Ingredients
- 200 g gấc fruit pulp
- 500 g sticky rice
- 200 ml coconut milk
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 50 ml water
- 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Soak the sticky rice for at least 2 hours before cooking.
- Blend the gấc pulp with the water in a blender until smooth.
- Drain the soaked rice and mix it in a pot with the gấc puree, coconut milk, sugar and salt.
- Cook the rice mixture over medium heat until the rice is completely soft and has absorbed the liquid, about 40 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked rice to a bowl and let it cool slightly.
- Arrange the rice on plates and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
