Dessert
Yakgwa, also known as Korean honey cookies, is a traditional Korean pastry that gets its sweetness mainly from honey. These cookie-like treats are soft and sweet, and suit special occasions or a sweet snack in between.

Ingredients
- 200 g all-purpose flour
- 50 g rice flour
- 100 ml sesame oil
- 50 ml soy milk
- 90 g honey
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 l vegetable oil for deep-frying
- 60 g honey for brushing
- 2 tbsp chopped pine nuts for decoration
Instructions
- Mix the flour, rice flour, sesame oil, soy milk, honey, ginger and cinnamon in a large bowl.
- Knead the dough thoroughly until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for one hour.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut it into small rectangular pieces.
- Heat plenty of vegetable oil in a deep pot.
- Fry the pieces of dough in small batches until golden brown.
- Drain the finished yakgwa on paper towels.
- Brush the still-warm yakgwa with additional honey and sprinkle with chopped pine nuts.
- Let cool completely before serving.
