Yakiniku no tare is a Japanese grill sauce of soy sauce, mirin and honey, briefly simmered with pureed apple, garlic, ginger and toasted sesame. It tastes salty and sweet with a fruity acidity from the apple. Dip grilled beef or vegetables in it, or marinate meat in it.

Ingredients
- 1 apple, peeled and pureed
- 100 ml soy sauce
- 50 ml mirin
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 scallion, finely sliced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
Instructions
- 1. Peel and core the apple, then puree the flesh.
- 2. In a small pot, stir the soy sauce, mirin and honey over medium heat until the honey has dissolved completely.
- 3. Add the apple puree, chopped garlic, grated ginger and sesame oil to the pot and stir well.
- 4. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5. Take the pot off the heat and stir in the scallion and toasted sesame seeds.
- 6. Let the sauce cool completely and stir it well again before serving.
